When to use

Cryptography and SSL/TLS Toolkit. Use openssl@3 when you want a widely used development command-line package that can be installed and updated through Homebrew. It is one of FastBrew's top packages by Homebrew installs, with about 5.6M installs over the last year.

Installation Notes

To add additional certificates, place .pem files in
  $HOMEBREW_PREFIX/etc/openssl@3/certs

and run
  $HOMEBREW_PREFIX/opt/openssl@3/bin/c_rehash

OpenSSL 3.6 is only supported until 2026-11-01 so the `openssl@3`
formula will be downgraded to OpenSSL 3.5 (LTS) in a future update.
