FastBrew privacy information

This page describes how FastBrew handles information when you browse fastbrew.app or use its public API and CLI. You do not need an account to browse packages or prepare an installation list. For privacy enquiries, email info@fastbrew.app.

Information stored in your browser

FastBrew saves selected packages, Brewfile editing state, and preferences in your browser so they remain available when you return. The theme preference also uses browser storage. You can remove this information by clearing site data for fastbrew.app in your browser settings; doing so resets saved selections and preferences. Administrative sign-in uses a session cookie and is separate from public browsing.

Requests and shared selections

Search terms and requested package identifiers are sent to FastBrew to return catalog results. Shared selection links contain information about the selected packages. Anyone with a shared link can read that selection, so do not include confidential information in links you distribute.

The Brewfile API receives the content you submit for parsing, or the package list you submit for generation. These utilities process the request and return a result without saving a Brewfile to an application database. The CLI sends requests to the same API; using its parse command uploads the specified file's contents. Review files before submitting them and remove secrets or private package information.

Hosting and operational information

Cloudflare hosts FastBrew and processes network requests, including IP addresses and request metadata, to deliver and protect the service. FastBrew uses client IP addresses for rate limiting. Operational logs and performance measurements can include request paths, response status, timings, and diagnostic identifiers. These help investigate failures and maintain the service.

FastBrew's custom interaction tracking is disabled in the production configuration. This does not disable the operational logging and performance measurements described above. External package homepages and Homebrew services have their own privacy practices when you visit or use them.

Contact and requests

Send privacy questions or requests about information you have provided to info@fastbrew.app. Include enough context to identify the interaction, without sending passwords or unrelated sensitive data. For a suspected security vulnerability, use security@fastbrew.app.
